The winter recruitment period is always a time of intense rumour and possible major deals. A number of notable stars find themselves linked with moves away from their current clubs. We examine some of the key names who are poised to be changing clubs in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Despite Ghana's failure to reach the Africa Cup of Nations, which has left the forward in contention, it appears an important transfer is imminent. This Bournemouth attacker possesses a contract featuring a sizeable release clause active for a two-week period at the start of the month. Recent developments suggest the Premier League champions are now the frontrunners for his signature. Former interested parties such as Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have turned their attention to other targets, potentially opening the door for teams such as Manchester United or Liverpool to attempt a last-minute bid.

M. Guéhi

The England defender has excel for Crystal Palace this season a previous transfer to Anfield falling through. With his deal due to expire in the close season, this represents the London club's final chance to secure a transfer fee for their skipper. Numerous elite sides, such as City and several European giants including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, are believed to be interested. The Portugal playmaker could be poised for a comeback to the English top flight after a period in the Saudi Pro League. Still just 28, while his agreement expiring in the summer of 2026, he is a potential bargain. Clubs such as Liverpool and Manchester United are linked with the player. Furthermore, there are rumours from Spain that he would be willing to accept a reduced salary for a switch to the Spanish giants.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This veteran Germany goalkeeper is now as the third option at Barça following new manager Flick. After fallen out of favour and undergone surgery, a winter exit looks highly likely. Villa were once mentioned as a possible suitor, but that move now appears off. Instead, clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are thought to be showing interest in the keeper.

Ivan Toney

This proven England centre-forward has kept scoring frequently in the Middle East. Coming back to the Premier League might enhance his dwindling hopes of making the England squad. However, securing a transfer presents significant challenges. His current club are reluctant to sell him, and his alleged enormous weekly wages make any move complicated. Tottenham, Manchester United, and Everton have all been mentioned as interested parties.

Because of specific rules about representing multiple teams in a season, a move back to his parent club prior to next summer seems to be the only available solution.

K. Yildiz

This exciting Turkey attacker has been in excellent form for the Italian giants this term. With his existing contract running down, many Premier League clubs – such as Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are monitoring the developments. The Turin club are eager to secure the 20-year-old to a new long-term agreement but face a race to keep one of Europe's brightest prospects.

Kees Smit

The much-admired Netherlands teenage midfielder has earned comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. Following starring at the U19 Euros, he has become a regular in the AZ side. The teenager is widely expected to make a big-money move in January. Newcastle are believed to be leading the chase, but are facing strong competition from the Spanish champions for a deal valued at around twenty-two million pounds.
