The European Union might “act quickly and firmly” against what it deems “unjustified” visa bans issued by the US against five European individuals working on fighting digital hatred and misinformation, an EU official has said.

Officials from Europe including the French president charged the US administration of “coercion and intimidation”, after the travel bans were placed on figures who have been at the heart of efforts to introduce laws governing US-based technology firms.
